2 MAKE YOUR ODYSSEY PACKET TOGETHER! Materials Person In Each Group – Get 6 pieces of looseleaf paper. Materials Person In Each Group – borrow stapler and staple each person’s packet in the group. Front cover of packet – The Odyssey by: Homer (LARGE IN MIDDLE) Your name on front cover (SMALL). Look up the word, odyssey, on your phone, or in the dictionary. Share with group. Write synonyms on your front cover to describe any odyssey. You can draw pictures too, if you’d like.

3 PACKET – PAGE 1: “LIFE IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION.” ~UNKNOWN Write the quote above on page 1 of your Odyssey packet. Underneath the quote, write down what you think it means. Discuss with your group and add to your notes. Is this quote a simile or metaphor? Why?

4 PACKET – PAGE 1… IF YOU WERE ALIVE IN HOMER’S TIME… Skim through the headings, pictures, captions and charts on pgs. 1088-1091. Answer this question in your packet: WRITE THE QUESTION and YOUR ANSWER. What did Ancient Greeks believe in, or value in their lives? What was important to them?
