2. Roman Slaves The slaves were the lowest in the class system. They had no rights and were owned by people who were higher in the class system.

3. Plebians The plebians were free men, but they had very little, or no say in matters. If they were wealthy enough, they had their own slaves. This class ranged from well off people to very poor people.

4. Equestrians The equestrian class of ancient Rome was also known as the “knights”. They were rich and fought for Rome. They were also given horses that they could ride in battle.

5. Patricians The patricians were the richest of all the classes. The were the nobles and had all the real power. They were wealthy landowners and had many slaves.

6. Overview As you can see, there were many different classes in Ancient Rome. The class you were in depended on what family you born to. The slaves, plebians, equestrians, and patricians all had there place in Ancient Rome.
