1. AVON LAKE BASEBALL Try-Outs 2016

MANDITORY Students MUST Have the following to try-out: 1.Current Physical (within 1 calendar year of May 31st) 2.Emergency Medical Form *both must be on file before the athlete will be allowed to try out *forms are available at avonlakecityschools.org 3. Minimum of a 1.5 g.p.a. and passing a minimum of 5 credits towards graduation for the third nine weeks of the 2015-2016 school year.

3. WHEN ARE TRY OUTS???? Tryouts will be held Monday 2/22/16 – Wednesday 2/24/16 in the Auxiliary Gymnasium at Avon Lake High School. Freshmen will tryout from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors will tryout from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

4. WHAT WILL BE EVALUATED 1. General skills – Fielding ground balls/fly balls & throwing 2. Arm Strength- Radar gun reading from 120 feet and 90 ft. 3. Foot speed – Times will be taken for the 60 yard and 90 foot runs. 4. Hitting – Consistency of contact, power, and general swing 5. Pitching – Consistency of strikes/arm strength/command 4. Attitude and Coachability – General Attitude – interaction with coaches and teammates

5. Who will be evaluating??? 1.The Varsity head coach, Varsity assistant, Junior Varsity, and Freshmen coaches will be involved in selecting all 3 teams. 2. The Varsity head coach has final say on rosters for all three levels (Freshmen/JV/Varsity).

6. ATHLETES WHO MAKE THE TEAM 1.This is a competitive program, and playing time is earned in practice and scrimmages. 2.All school and team rules are to be followed. 3.We expect all team players to respect and support other players, coaches, umpires and school administrators. 4.All players are responsible for their uniforms and other team equipment issued.

7. MANDITORY PARENT MEETING There is a mandatory parent meeting in the Performing Arts Center March 1 st @ 7:00 p.m.. 7:00pm for 1 st Time 2015-2016sport participants 7:30 in Room #114 if you participated in a fall or winter sport Parents and athletes are required to attend. The meeting should last about one hour.
