3 Background and Legislative Intent July 2015  Signed HB 3072 and HB 5016  Three pilot projects to:  “…increase students’ exposure and access to career and technical education that can lead to high wage and high demand jobs.”  Modeled after a similar process in Washington Page 2

4 Pilot Projects Expectations Participating high schools will:  Provide core academic credit through CTE courses.  Adopt full or partial course equivalencies.  Develop a procedure for approving course equivalencies.  Develop teacher teams. ODE will:  Provide technical assistance.  Develop policy recommendations.

5 Equity Lens Incorporate and adopt the principles of the Oregon Equity Lens  Students experiencing poverty  Minorities  Students with disabilities  English language learners  Nontrad Focus on economic prosperity  Pathways to high wage and high demand occupations  College and career ready Pages 2-3

6 Awards Amount  Maximum $20,000 for a single school.  Three awards. Selection  Diversity in school size.  Content diversity.  Past experience.  Commitment.  Available teachers.  Demonstrated need. Page 3
