5 S OCIAL S TUDIES & S TORIES Everyone has a story. Social Studies provides us with the opportunity to learn, to tell and to create our story. Who do you think You Are Who do you think You Are Social Studies provides: a natural vehicle for the integration of literacy and numeracy skills, an opportunity to develop lifelong skills that are fundamental to learning in all subjects which include critical thinking, inquiry and research, an opportunity to understand the relationship between natural environment and human activities; groups of people and relationships; society and technology, (Environmental Education, Aboriginal Peoples)Environmental Education an opportunity to understand that the individual and the group can make contributions to the betterment of society and evolution of Canada and its place in the world, (Character Education) an opportunity to develop the growth and identity of a responsible Canadian and Global citizen and to recognize that every individual can make a difference.
