AA response rate of 100% was achieved from the survey. AAge group: 13-14 (RI Secondary 2 students) GGender: Male NNumber of respondents: 20 Information regarding our survey with RI Sec 2s’ students

1. We came out with some survey questions and selected the best 10 questions among all. 2. We printed out twenty copies of the survey itself. 3. During recess time, we survey the 20 RI sec 2 students. 4. We then keyed in the results of the survey. Procedures

Information regarding our interview Name of interviewee: Mr. Leo Email: heekhian.leo@ri.edu.sg Proposed date(s) and time(s): 14/03/2011 Monday, 1.45pm. Venue(s): Chat room Number of questions in the interview:10

1. 10 questions were to be asked during the interview. 2. We edited the questions and emailed Mr. Leo. 3. After he agreed, we interviewed him on 14/03/2011 in the chat room and we recorded down his answer to our questions. 4. We then made a transcript and we keyed in the essential information into the computer. Procedures

Results and Analysis Majority of the RI Sec 2s love to play Mousehunt and Backyard Monsters. Mousehunt went as high as 60%, over more than half of the respondents. As Mousehunt and backyard Monsters include chatting and competing, RI Sec 2s get more pleasure by playing these games instead of games like pet society where there is no thrill and not much interaction with others. Therefore, we can conclude that RI Sec 2s play Facebook games that allow them to interact a lot with their friends.

From the table to your left, Majority(45%) of the respondents play Facebook between 1 to 10 hours a week, which although does not seem to be a very long time, is indeed long enough for RI Sec 2s to get addicted to Facebook games. Fortunately, nobody played Facebook for more than 20 hours a week, or else that person would have had heavy addiction to Facebook games and it would be necessary to go for counselling by Mr Leo.

Further research  Aim on another social networking website.  Government’s effort to help curb addiction.  Why pupils do not consult the counselors even when they know that they are addicted to computer games.

In a nutshell: 1. Facebook games do affect RI Year 2 students academic performance. 2. By having a good relationship with one family and friends. One will not be addicted to any form of addiction, including Facebook Games addiction. 3. Lastly,we hope that from this research, people will realize the effects of social networking sites and its games.

Acknowledgements Mrs Joycelene and Mr Kelvin Yap, our teacher mentors, for their continuous and helpful guidance throughout the entire course of the project. Mr Leo, our interviewee, for his help in providing information and his opinions for our project.
