1 In America… In Alabama 1955 -Black people were only allowed to sit in certain seats on a bus and they had to give up their seat if a white person needed a seat. In Arkansas - Black children were not allowed to go to the same schools as white children. In 1957 Elizabeth Eckford was allowed to go to a ‘white’ school. The picture shows a crowd shouting abuse at her as she walked to school. 17 states had laws that segregated black and white people in public places

2 In Europe… 1938-1945 It was because of such strong anti-Semitism (racism against Jews) across Europe that 6 million Jews were murdered in the holocaust.
