5  Please review all information. We know, it’s a lot, but it is IMPORTANT– you want to graduate, don’t you?  Remember, these are minimum requirements for in-state WA Colleges! Many colleges require more! Every college can have their unique set of entrance requirements. Check each college’s website for details.  Students who earn a Full IB Diploma will follow their own particular diploma requirements as determined by IB.  Partial IB candidates still need to meet Edmonds graduation requirements

Minimum 4 Year College Requirement 3.0 credits required *Universities want students to challenge themselves by taking Honors, AP, IB or community college coursework, when possible.

Honors and IB or advanced coursework recommended Colleges now require a math-based class in the senior year (for example, chemistry, physics, statistics, alg 2, pre-calculus, calculus, etc.). 9 EWHS Graduation Requirement: 2.0 credits required Class of 2017 and beyond must currently pass Biology EOC! Minimum 4 Year College Requirement 2.0 credits required (3 recommended)  Universities require a high school physics course for those who want to take engineering  Colleges require a continuous year of biology, chemistry or physics.  WWU requires a full year of chemistry or physics. EWHS Graduation Requirement: World Language is not required in order to graduate from EWHS Minimum 4 Year College Requirement 2.0 – 3.0 credits required Public in-state schools require 2.0 credits of the SAME world language. Many other colleges require 3.0 credits or more.

14 Part 2 - But… how are YOU doing on YOUR requirements?? Don’t worry, we have a tool to help you figure this out! (Please distribute the individual report to each student)

17 There are five columns of credits: Column 1: State Required Credits Column 2: Credits earned and posted Column 3: Credits waived (these are requested and posted the Senior year) Column 4: Credit currently in progress Column 5: Credits remaining

18 Reminder!!!! Students must earn a D or better to earn credit for any course. Students who took a high school course while in middle school may have credits posted (a request form is available in the counseling office) Students may retake courses for grade improvement but must talk with their counselor for the GPA to be recalculated Students may take course equivalencies but need to speak with their counselor for the credit to be categorized

19 STATE EXAMS Students in the class of 2017 and beyond must pass:  An ELA exam (scheduled in the 11 th grade year)  A science exam (currently End of Course Biology)  A math exam (currently either EOC Algebra/Geometry or SBA math.) High School and Beyond Plan  Completed in coordination with registration, Naviance activities and your counselor Washington State History  This requirement is currently imbedded in the Junior year history course on campus at EWHS. Students who take Junior History (US History) through Running Start must complete this requirements separately.

20  Review your Grad Status Report and focus on the “Remaining” column. Use it to figure out what classes you need to take next year. It is your responsibility to make sure you are meeting all graduation requirements!  Begin visiting the curriculum guide on EWHS counseling website (Registration for classes tab on left)to read course descriptions and learn about course offerings at: www.edmonds.wednet.edu/ewhs  Please keep your Graduation Status Report. Go on Skyward if you want to see more specific information regarding your Graduation Requirements.

21  Current Juniors:  Registration lesson February 29th  Current Sophomores-  Registration lesson March 1st  Current Freshmen  Registration lesson March 2nd Registration sessions will be in the gym for individual classes and all course selection input into skyward by students by March 8 th.
