3 Contractions Definition: Combining 2 words together using an apostrophe

5 Possession/Ownership Definition: Showing that someone/something owns something else

6 Singular examples:  If it’s a singular word that DOES NOT end in s: ADD ‘s ~~Sarah owns a book  Sarah’s book ~~bird owns a wing  bird’s wing ~~ pencil owns an eraser  pencil’s eraser

7 Singular contd.  If it’s a singular word that DOES end in s: ADD ‘s ~~Chris owns a bike  Chris’s bike ~~bus owns a wheel  bus’s wheel ~~class owns grades  class’s grades

8 Plural examples  If it’s a plural word that DOES NOT end in s: ADD ‘s ~~women own coats  women’s coats ~~geese own feathers  geese’s feathers ~~people own cars  people’s cars

9 Plural contd.  If it’s a plural word that DOES end in s: JUST ADD ‘ ~~girls own bikes  girls’ bikes ~~chairs own legs  chairs’ legs ~~watches own bands  watches’ bands
