2 Rodney King Riots Rodney King was arrested in the early morning on March 3, 1991 on the charges of reckless driving. King was mercilessly beaten by a group of 4 policemen with far beyond reasonable force. On April 29, 1992, 3 of the policemen were acquitted of the charges. As a result, riots occurred throughout Los Angeles in protest. Both the police and rioters acted with extreme behavior and a lack of restraint. These groups represent how deindividuation can affect one’s behavior when in a group. Rodney King. (n.d.). Who2? Biographies. 3 Civil Rights Movement During the Civil Rights Movement most of the people wanted it to be a non-violent act, although some riots' or boycotts would turn violent. An example of a non-violent act is the African Americans quit riding the buses after the Rosa Parks incident to express their voice on their rights. One violent mob was when the Little Rock High School, kids were unable to attend school, it turned violent. http://cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=754 6&rendTypeId=4 This represents group polarization.
