8. Ms. Garvin showed slides of her visits to Hope Nursery and Primary School in Masaka, Uganda. The students had only one room in which to work, no lunchroom, gym, or library.

9. Springton Lake students decided to help. They baked and sold cookies and brownies, and they collected books to start a library. Pretzel money was also donated. A total of $1500 was sent to Uganda.

12. Students at Hope School sent many thank-you notes to Springton Lake. The children in Uganda also became 76ers fans when they found out that Springton Lake was close to Philadelphia.

13. Springton Lake students who were the class of 2006 at Penncrest High School followed the tradition. They decided they would also like to help the Hope School in Masaka, Uganda.

14. Each team selected one day for a bake sale. They raised $650 to buy some camping equipment for the Hope School.

15. Jacqui Everett of Hope School mentioned that the students rarely get to leave their village or have anything like a vacation.

16. Jacqui can use the 8 to 10 people tent, 2 queen size inflatable mattresses, a battery pump, 4 batteries, and a cooler on wheels to hold food and water when taking students on “field trips” to local farms for agricultural lessons.

18. Students also donated playground equipment which Ms Garvin delivered to the school. SLMS students made a video to show Hope School students how to use the various games. They loved seeing all the students!

20. If it rains they are ready! Cards and board games were donated to the library to be signed out by classes.

21. Donations from Mr. and Mrs. Lesvesque, Ms Wren, Dr. Barta, and the Special Education Department provided pipes so that the school could have water.

22. Hope School now has an all-purpose room and a library as a result of the efforts of Springton Lake students. These are examples of some of the books donated by Springton Lake.

23. This is what Ms. Everett wrote to us when everything arrived: TO ALL MY FRIENDS AT SPRINGTON LAKE MIDDLE SCHOOL. Wow! You are all so awesome. Thank you so much for your efforts to help children in “U”.
