3.  Question, Answer and Response  The answers to questions can generally be found in one of three places.  Can you guess where?

5.  Right There:  The answer is one place in the text.  Words from the question and words that answer the question are often “right there: in the same sentence.  Sometimes the answer is word for word in the print.

6.  Think & Search  In this case, the answer is in the text or print.  However,… Readers need to “think and search” or in other words, put together different part of the text, to find the answer.  The answer can be within the paragraph, across paragraphs, or even across chapters and books.  For our research projects, we will search across many different sources of text.

8.  In your own head!  When the answer is NOT in the text, readers use their own ideas and experiences to answer the questions.  This instance is called or referred to as:  On My Own  Meaning: …..

9.  Sometimes, the answer is NOT in the text.  To answer the question, readers need to think about how the text and what they already know fit together.  Can you think of an  Example of this kind of  Question?  This is referred to as  An Author & Me question.
