1 Fire Project HOW DID FIRE AFFECT THE EVOLUTION OF GUNPOWDER AND EVOLUTION OF BULLETS?

2 How did fire influence the invention of gunpowder and the evolution of bullets?  Gunpowder is the first explosive substance mankind learned to use.  The invention of gunpowder is attributed to fire because the Chinese alchemists drew inspiration from it looking at the fire ignition of pill making.  To load a musket, a firer must first pour a gunpowder directly down the barrel. Then the lead musket ball wrapped on one. Then by an ignition, the ball was shot.  There is a wide variety of loading mechanisms in modern firearms, but all but the most experimental bullets are fired the same way. When the trigger is pulled, the firing pin penetrates the firing cap at the base of the cartridge, sending a spark into the propellant and igniting it. The resulting explosion drives the bullet down and out of the barrel at high speed.

3 Gun Powder GUNPOWDER IS A MIXTURE OF: SULFUR, SALTPETER, AND CHARCOAL IT’S BELIEVED THAT CHINESE MADE IT AROUND: 9TH CENTURY GUNPOWDER WAS MADE BY MIXING: SULFUR, SALTPETER, AND CHARCOAL. THEN MIXING IT WITH A LIQUID (USUALLY WINE OR WATER). THEN AFTER MIXING THIS MIXTURE WITH THE LIQUID, THEY WOULD PUSH THE WET MIXTURE THROUGH A SCREEN TO MAKE SMALL PELLETS THEN THEY WOULD ALLOW THE PELLETS TO DRY.

4 Bullet THE GUNPOWDER USED WITH FIRE MADE A BULLET GENERATE ENOUGH PRESSURE TO FORCE IT FROM THE MUZZLE AT HIGH SPEED. GUNPOWDER IS A CHEMICAL EXPLOSIVE. BECAUSE OF ITS BURNING PROPERTIES AND THE AMOUNT OF HEAT AND GAS VOLUME THAT IT GENERATES, GUNPOWDER HAS BEEN WIDELY USED AS A PROPELLANT IN FIREARMS.
