2 Euglena Euglena gracilis
Actually, there are many species of Euglena, and I’m not quite sure what this one is. When we know the genus, but not the species, we write Euglena sp. Where “sp.” indicates species. If there are several different species we write spp for species plural.

3 Euglena Euglena gracilis
Eukaryote Nucleus in cells Single Celled No cell wall Autotroph & Heterotroph! Motile Asexual reproduction Kingdom Protista

4 Euglena Euglena gracilis
Autotroph– Euglena have chloroplasts that undergo photosynthesis using light energy to build sugar.

5 Euglena Euglena gracilis
Flagellum– The flagellum, or tail, helps the euglena move towards light and away from predators.

6 Euglena Euglena gracilis
Eyespot– The Euglena has a very simple eye that senses light. This way the euglena can move untill it is in a lighted area.

7 Euglena Euglena gracilis
Nucleus – The nucleus is where all the DNA is stored. This is, of course, true for all eukaryotes, including members of the kingdom protista.
