 Background information about your drug  http://www.drugabuse.gov/drugs-abuse http://www.drugabuse.gov/drugs-abuse  Key Findings about nationwide teen drug use from the Monitoring the Future Report  http://www.monitoringthefuture.org/pubs/mon ographs/mtf-overview2013.pdf http://www.monitoringthefuture.org/pubs/mon ographs/mtf-overview2013.pdf

 Before we surveyed Von Steuben students we expected that 75% of students would think that alcohol is a dangerous drug.  We thought there would be a 64% of students would think alcohol is a great risk.  We predicted that 90% of students would think that it is easy to get alcohol.  We thought 40% of students would have been drunk in the past month.

 We surveyed 30 12 th grade students about their personal opinions on alcohol.  The survey was conducted at 10:20 am  Took place at Mr. Krier’s senior seminar class in room 120  Students anonymously answered a 6 question survey based on alcohol

18% of the female students indicated they have been drunk in the past two weeks 26% of the male students indicated they have been drunk in the past two weeks

 Our hypothesis was incorrect since only 24% of 30 Von Steuben students think alcohol is a great risk.  91% of seniors nationwide think alcohol is easy to get while 87% of Von Steuben students agree. This was fairly close  70% of seniors nationwide disapprove of the substance. 30% of Von Steuben disapprove as well. Not close with the nationwide results which was very surprising.  Maybe we got these results because they were honest opinions.

 We’re still curious about:  Is beer or wine safer to drink than hard liquor?  How do you know if it’s okay to drink?  If we did further research we would anonymously ask about the student’s ethnicity, family income, and drug history.  To get more specific results we would anonymously survey same grade students in other high schools and summarize our results based on the schools location.  We didn’t have a larger variety of answers to our questions.

 Title Slide with group names:  Review of Literature Slide  Hypothesis Slide  Graph reporting Von opinion on drug  Graph reporting demographic differences (boy v. girl, race, G.P.A. etc…)  Graph comparing Von results to national results  Analysis & Conclusions  Further Questions
