2 A successful Reign? Philip’s marriage to Cleopatra did destabilise the court in 337BC. He had however put Macedonia at the Centre of the Greek world. Cleopatra Alexander I of Epirus To stabilise the court he organised the marriage of his daughter Cleopatra to Alexander I of Epirus (brother of Olympias).

3 Philip and the Persians Philip had planned an expedition against Persia for a long time. Hegemon Since becoming Hegemon he began preparing for the campaign. ParmenioAttalus In 336 BC (after his wedding) Philip sent an advanced force to Asia Minor under the command of Parmenio and Attalus (to keep him away from court).
