Location The 3rd shot in the film is an establishing shot for the first scene, showing the location of a tunnel/sewer. Dark locations in scenes in which death is involved is typical of the genre, for obvious reasons. The female character lying at a location such as the entrance to the dark tunnel implies that she is dead. The 2nd location is a hallway in a high school. It is a normal location that could be featured in any film and isn't typical of thrillers as most thriller film's main characters are over 18.

Lighting/colour The lighting in the first scene as I previously mentioned is dark in the tunnel although it shows that it is light on the outside. The darkness is denote of death, typical of the genre. The contrast of the light and the dark of the outside was done to make it seem like those characters have the dark emotions while everything going on outside is as it always has been. The second scene is a brightly coloured one, implying the lack of death and better times.

Costume  The male character's costume is that of a normal teenager, he maybe doesn't care about his outfit as much as some people.  The girl wears a skirt and a jumper, again quite typical of someone of her age but most noticeably blue bangles. In the next scene, matching scenes are used to show who the characters are without seeing their face by using their costumes.

Props The only notable props are the bangles which I already covered and the note. The note is used as non-verbal communication. She can't speak to him face to face so she writes a note to tell him where to go. The note is in a noticeably feminine handwriting (neat, curly etc). Notes and letters are quite common in thrillers, used by characters to communicate secretly.

Performance In the first scene, Brendan seems paralysed with the emotion he is feeling. He stays frozen through the entire scene due his sadness Brendan's attitude in the school scene set two days before isn't different to any person of his age going to his locker.

Camera shots Here a close up is used to let the viewer see the emotion in Brendan's face. Close up shots are very common in thrillers. Here is an establishing shot, letting us see the setting that the scene is set in. In the next scene there is a POV shot, putting us in the place of Brendan. It allows us to see in the eyes of the character which gives us a stronger emotional connection to the story. Different shots in different scenes are used for different purposes, here are just a few that are used in the film. Here a mid-shot is used, allowing us to see more of the character’s outfit and not just focussing on his facial expressions but body language as well.
