2 Question 2: How do family-life fiction writers prepare to write their novels? The author of A Change of Heart Jodi Picoult does research to better write her novels. “I’ve been to Death Row in Arizona, twice now. It’s a very strange place – in all the years I’ve been doing research, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a cloud of secrecy like the one I found there” ("Jodi Picoult | FAQs." ) So to persuade her reader with the help of the research helps make a connection to the characters and the reader. “I don't outline. Someone once said that writing is like driving at night. You only need to see the stretch of highway right in front of you. That's how I like to write. With a sense of what's just ahead, but not what's around the bend. That way, the act of writing is a discovery for me, too, the way it is for the reader” (McCormick, Patricia). This quote was said by Patricia McCormick who is the writer of My Brothers Keeper this is one of the books that relates to family life realistic fiction. With writing of her books this can be related to other authors and their mind sets before they write. You don’t always know what to write about at first and wont know the ending you just think of things as you write a little at a time.

3 Question 3: What is the relationship between family-life fiction and truth? The relationship between family life fiction and the truth is that realistic fiction is based on real life situations that are believable and the plot and theme are part of the problems of families ("Realistic Fiction Books, Realistic Fiction"). And I’ve looked at legal issues that, when pushed, are less than fair. But right now in America, it feels to me like the country’s being broken apart on the fault line of religion. All the big controversies – like abortion and gay rights and capital punishment seem to boil down to religion, and the weird thing that’s happened to religion. Although historically it was a way to unite people, it’s become divisive – because beliefs have become absolutes. People think, I'm right, so you MUST be wrong” ("Jodi Picoult :: Novels About Family). She is the author of Change of Heart. The statement is said by the author and it gives feed back on the inspiration on writing of the book and how she research a world wide dilemma that people agree or disagree about and this happens on a lot of topics and situations that people go through about religion or legal disputes.
