2 Introduction My unit plan was designed for a fifth grade class on The American Revolution lasting over a 10 day time period. The unit falls under the subject of Social Studies with concentration in American History. Within the 10 day period students will use a variety of skills to analysis the historical significance of specific events and people during the American Revolution and connect it to present day.

3 The Context of My Project The American Revolution unit plan was created for 28 students who have extensive knowledge in how to utilize a variety of technological resources. The students have worked with computer since entering elementary school and began taking a technology course last year in the fourth grade. The technology course provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with resources found on the computer such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Inspiration, and Desktop Publishing. Beginning this year students are becoming familiar with podcasts, Wikis, blogging and skyping. Technology is incorporated throughout the unit and students will readily have access to specific materials needed to complete assignments. Also, the technology teacher and myself have mapped out a schedule to collaboratively work together to ensure that all students have a complete technology experience.

4 Aim of the Project Following a unit topic on the American Revolution students will use a variety of skills to analysis the historical significance of specific events and people by illustrating the connections through a simple time line which will recognize the correct chronological order of major events during the American Revolution which will be completed during a ten day time period, as well as, complete an examination with at least 80% mastery.

5 Justification Within the classroom there is a diverse population of students who individually have different learning styles. Through the use of technology I can assist students in achieving the objectives within the unit plan. Technology is one way of ensuring that a students unique learning styles is being met. Assignments that are completed electronically support the objectives of the lesson. Also, I would like students to understand the transformation of the economy overtime which has increased the popularity of technology. This concept connects with the Social Studies curriculum.
