2 Expand and Implement Greening Supply Chain Partnerships with North American Auto Sector Direct outcome of Council Resolution 06-06—to expand partnerships to improve the environmental performance in the auto sector Builds upon CEC’s greening the supply chain project, Canada’s green supply chain initiatives, and the successful US Green Suppliers Network (GSN) Calls for major multinational automotive companies with supply chains that cross North American borders to: (1) engage in the project’s objectives and (2) target their small and medium-size suppliers Presentation reports on activity to-date

3 AP México Alianza Verde Automotriz Industry representatives approached – GM, Ford and Chrysler agreed to lead Auto manufacturers, their suppliers, and Profepa held discussions, developed strategies and agreed to work together – “We want to make our country’s environment better.” Founding members: Allegiant Global, Chemico Mays, Chrysler de México, Ford Motor Company, General Motors México, Hirotec México, JCI Mexico, Lear Mexican Operations, Nemak México and Robert Bosch Key issues for remainder of 2008 and for 2009: compliance, auto suppliers processes and communication Next membership meeting – 16 July 2008 Lean and Clean training planned for late summer

4 SP Canada Environment Canada worked with CEC to organize discussions between auto manufacturers and suppliers Key issues: recycling of plastic products and waste, energy management and water consumption, zero waste and chemicals in products Key original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and suppliers have been identified Organizational meeting planned for August 2008

6 SP United States 35 member companies Work Group activities include: –Chemical Issues Work Group –Energy –Materials utilization – partnership with Goodwill International –Small business forum

7 Suppliers Partnerships in North America SPs formed or being formed in all three countries 2009 —each country will have active organizations committed to environmental improvement and the economic success of the automobile industry SP progress in Mexico and Canada would not have happened without CEC leadership and support
