4 CERSGIS A PROJECT is any series of activities and tasks that: Have a specific objective to be completed within certain specifications Have defined start and end dates Have funding limits (if applicable) Consume human and non-human resources e.g. money, people, equipment Are multifunctional (i.e. cut across several functional lines)

8 CERSGIS PROJECT LOGICAL FRAMEWORK APPROACH (LFA) The LFA is an ANALYTICAL, PRESENTATIONAL and MANAGEMENT TOOL which can help PLANNERS and MANAGERS to: -ANALYSE the existing situation during project preparation -ESTABLISH a logical hierarchy of means by which objectives will be reached -IDENTIFY some of the POTENTIAL RISKS -ESTABLISH how OUTPUTS and OUTCOMES might best be MONITORED and EVALUATED -PRESENT a SUMMARY of the PROJECT in a standard format
