3. How is the coursework marked? The coursework is marked in three strands: Strand 1- Planning the investigation Strand 2- Calculations and diagrams Strand 3- Interpretation and conclusions Each strand is marked out of 8, giving a maximum total of 24 marks.

4. Strand 1- Planning You need to decide What to investigate (line of enquiry) What sample size to use How to choose the sample What you are expecting to find (hypothesis) What statistical methods to use

5. Strand 2- Calculations and Diagrams You need to Use statistical techniques of an appropriate level (Higher GCSE topics) Decide which diagrams and calculations will support your investigations best Ensure that your diagrams and calculations are actually showing something useful and relevant

6. Strand 3- Interpretation You must Ensure that you comment on each calculation and diagram, explaining how it relates to your original hypothesis Explain how your findings relate to ‘real life’ Write down how you could improve your investigation if you were to do it again
