1 Chapter 5: Ancient Egypt Lesson 2: Day 3 Beliefs and Religion

2 Egyptians had a positive view of life. Land provided the Egyptians most of their needs. For the most part, did not struggle to make a living.

3 Life After Death Life After Death –Positive outlook on life shaped their religious beliefs. –Believed prosperity followed them into a happy afterlife. Afterlife- Life believed to follow death. Afterlife- Life believed to follow death. –Attitude not shaped by all cultures; see Sumerians.

Embalm- preserve a body after death. –R–R–R–Removed ALL organs except the heart. –F–F–F–Filled the body with a mixture of salt and herbs to create a mummy. Mummy- person who has been dried so it won’t decay.
