April 21 st, 2009 Goizueta Sponsorship and Corporate Relations Support presented by: Angela Bostick Dir, Corporate Relations

Goizueta Corporate Relations Overview: COMMUNITY & Corporate Relations (CR) covers many functions, including assisting students in identifying sponsorship opportunities. CR can help you impact reach and results, based on valuable assets, including:  Development of sponsor packages using event assets  Assistance on the creation of valid proposals for non-profits  Database of alums, executives and board members for prospecting  Historical view of past sponsorship for yours and similar events  Figures on funds raised, top companies and new contacts

History of CR and Sponsorship at Goizueta COMMUNITY &  Students approached companies with packages from logo inclusion to naming rights and spanning from $ to $$$$$.  Results varied across events and fluctuated year to year  Large sponsorships began declining, replaced with smaller gifts  CR’s involvement in the proposal process was often limited due to:  (Lack of) awareness of CR help  Quick turnaround for asks  Contact at company already identified by students  This variability often creates  Inconsistency of product quality and sponsorship levels  Challenges in maintaining and growing company engagement  Failure to accurately track, record and recognize all sponsorships  Graduation brought loss of knowledge if proposal was not known by staff

Goizueta Sponsored Event Process: COMMUNITY &  CR meets club/event leadership seeking sponsorship to gather info  Leadership submits event abstract, costs and “sponsorable” elements  Leadership submits list of target companies and sponsorship history  CR checks requests to ensure compliance with non-profit qualifications  CR uses model to create consistent sponsorship levels across all events  CR makes company packages with multiple event proposals based on:  Event audience and/or theme  Company-specified values/initiatives  Alumni concentration at desired company  CR works with students to identify contacts at target companies

Goizueta Sponsored Event Process Cont’d: COMMUNITY &  Company proposals sent to leadership for review.  Note: Groups failing to submit revisions in time cannot be included in proposals  CR develops two mailing schedules for companies to cover range of events, (first and second half of the upcoming semester)  Events Sept to Dec will have requests mailed by July 1  Events Jan – May will have requests mailed by Oct 1  Post-giving recognition initiated by CR office to sponsor company  Students will receive a list of key dates before graduation for upcoming dates needing funds  Funds needed for non-event causes can follow either timeframe

Benefits of working with CR: COMMUNITY &  Assists students as they begin the planning process for sponsorship  Allows for more strategic effort by students towards target lists  Gives significant assistance in creation of proposals  Enrolls staff owner to cultivate new relationships and steward giving  Tracks, recognizes and provides follow-up to companies after giving  Assists students in communicating value-add of their event to sponsors  Seeks to become part of annual budget planning at core companies
