Reflection Symmetry When you can draw a line through a plane figure so that the two halves match each other. Line Symmetry An imaginary line that you fold so the two halves match exactly. These pictures show that lines can be drawn through them and where the line is where it folds.

Reflection/Line Symmetry This picture of the Eiffel Tower shows that it only has one line of symmetry.

Reflection/Line Symmetry cont. The picture of the film shows that it has 2 lines of symmetry.

Reflection/Line Symmetry cont. This is a bridge in Germany that has 1 line of symmetry down the middle.

When a figure lines up with its self when rotated around a center point. These figures shows how many times it can be rotated.

Rotation Symmetry cont. This figure has an order of 4. Since it has an order of 4 the angle of rotation is 90 degrees. 360/4=90

Rotation Symmetry cont. This figure has an order of 2. The angle of rotation of this figure is 180 degrees. 360/2=180

Rotation Symmetry cont. This figure has an order of 2. The angle of rotation for this figure is 180 degrees. 360/2=180

When a figure has no lines of symmetry and doesn’t line up with itself when rotated. These figures have no lines of symmetry and doesn’t line up with itself more than once.

Asymmetry cont. This specific picture of SpongeBob Squarepants has no line symmetry. This image also has to do a 360 to match up with itself again.

Asymmetry cont. This house has no line of symmetry. It would have to rotate one full time to match itself back up.

Asymmetry cont. This image of the smiley has no line of symmetry. This image also has to turn all the way around to match up with itself.
