3. Inventions About Farming The Chinese used many inventions for farming. Some great inventions are the hoe, the plow and the water buffalo. But there is one invention that is not very efficient but it worked well for the Chinese. It is the endless chain. The endless chain works by their feet turning a cogwheel that pulls a chain of wooden pallets. The Chinese used this to flood rice paddies. The Chinese even found how to grind rice after it had been picked. The Chinese really had a lot of inventions for farming!

4.  Most peasant farmers had to serve in the army, pay taxes and work in the garden for a certain number of days. Also, if they failed, the wealthy landlord would not get his share of the crop. And if he didn’t get his share, the peasant family was in danger of falling into debt and losing their land. 

5.  Rice is the most common crop grown in early China. They also grew wheat, corn, soybeans, barley, millet, and the lynch tree fruit is grown in China. The Chinese not only loved crops, they loved flowers too. Some of the flowers grown by the Chinese are the chrysanthemum, the peony, the lotus and the narcissus. The Chinese loved gardening!
