2 Digital Editor The Digital Editor has, as primary responsibility, the day-to-day management of digital products associated with language learning materials - foreign language learning, linguistics, and reference titles. The Digital Editor works closely with the project’s editor, production manager, and the marketing and sales director to define the scope, determine the budget, and execute the strategy for creating companion and ancillary products for textbooks and stand-alone products. As well, the Digital Editor works directly with authors and vendors to direct and execute the strategy and reports to the Director of Georgetown Languages. Note: This is neither a copyediting nor a print production job. Duties include but are not limited to: - Liaise between vendors and editors to translate content into functionality. - Set and manage schedules, coordinating with vendors and authors. - Complete projects on time and within budget. - Serve as primary QA checker and workflow coordinator for all digital projects, working with others as needed. - Manage and keep up-to-date the digital assets database and archive. - With supervisor, identify and hire vendors as needed. - Handle projects with proactive problem solving and creative scheduling - Expertly communicate project functionality and technical specs - Serve as technical capabilities expert, and educate staff.

3 Digital Editor Requirements - Bachelor’s degree – Master’s preferred. Some teaching experience or linguistics background preferred. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. - Appreciation for languages and language learning - 2+ years of experience learning a language a plus. - Experience in multimedia or website development. - Proficiency in a variety of office and multimedia programs, such as MS Office, Flash, Photoshop, iTunes, Garage Band/Audacity, databases; and experience with XML/HTML and course management systems. Knowledge of digital video a plus.
