1 Passive Transport foldable LAYERED-LOOK BOOK 1.Collect 4 sheets of paper and layer them about 1.5 cm apart vertically. Keep the edges even. 2.Fold up the bottom edges of the paper to form 8 equal tabs. 3.Fold the papers and crease well to hold the tabs in place. Staple along the fold. Label each tab.

2 Tab Titles Passive Transport - Movement from high to low concentration without energy Diffusion Facilitated Diffusion Carrier Protein Channel Protein Isotonic Hypotonic Hypertonic Osmosis

3 Directions Draw a cartoon on each flap describing what happens to a cell. Include the movement and result of each. (Get this information from the table on page 9 of your science notebook.) Example: Diffusion is moving from an area of high concentration to low concentration. Drawing: a person going down a slide.

4 Definitions to use Diffusion- movement from high to low Facilitated Diffusion- high to low with a protein. Channel- protein shaped for ions to pass through. Carrier- Proteins shaped for specific molecules Isotonic- water moves both ways and the cell stays the same shape. Hypotonic- Water moves into the cell and the cell swells. Hypertonic- water moves out of the cell and the cell shrinks.
