4 Themes? Predominant overarching theme is the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 12:1-3, 7; 13:14-7; 15:1-21; 17:1-21; 18:17- 19; 22:15-18; 26:2-5, 23-25; 28:10-17; 25:9-12; 50:24). 11 Joseph and his Brothers Genesis 37-50 The deity moves offstage with no indications of God’s direct role. Joseph is favored by father and despised by brothers. Joseph is sold into slavery by his brothers or by God’s divine plan? Genesis 39:2 - 4 2 The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, 4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.234
