2 Scheduling Night Agenda 7:00 – 7:15, Scheduling Overview 7:15 – 7:45, Guidance Presentations  Current freshmen and sophomores will meet in the auditorium  Current juniors will meet in the choral room 7:45 – 8:15, Department Fair in the library

3 Scheduling Timeline Feb 3 – Feb 16: Classroom Scheduling February 16: AP Fair February 18: Elective Fair Feb 22 & 23: BWHS Scheduling Days March 1 – April 15: Counselor/student conferences

4 Classroom Presentations – February 3 – February 16 Counselors will visit 9th, 10th and 11th grade English classes to discuss graduation requirements, the scheduling process, and course options for next year. Students will receive the 2011-2012 Program of Studies. Students will receive a “practice” course selection form

5 Advanced Placement Fair – February 16, 2011 During flex period students will visit Advanced Placement subjects

6 Elective Fair – February 18, 2011 During flex period students visit elective classes

7 BWHS Scheduling Days – February 22 & 23, 2010 Students will make preliminary course choices A two-day event

8 Scheduling Day - 1 February 22, 2011 Students will receive course selection forms in the morning. Throughout the day (periods 1, 2, 3 & 4), core academic teachers will make recommendations and elective teachers will help students make elective choices. A parent signature on the form is not required at this time.

9 Scheduling Day - 2 February 23, 2011 Throughout the day (periods 5, 7 & 8), core academic teachers will make recommendations and elective teachers will help students make elective choices. Students will turn their forms in at the end of the day. A parent signature on the form is not required at this time.

10 Counselor & Student Conferences – March1 – April 15, 2011 Every student will meet with his/her counselor. Counselors will help refine student course selections and check graduation requirements. At this time, the student will be instructed to obtain a parent signature and return the course selection form for final approval.

11 Final Course Requests June 30, 2011 is the deadline to change student course requests Changes after June 30, 2011 may not be possible.

12 Schedule Changes Next Year Elective Changes Level Changes

13 Schedule Changes - Electives Students who do not receive their first choice in electives may be permitted to make schedule changes Students who receive their first choice in electives can not be permitted to change their electives unless extenuating circumstances exist

14 Schedule Changes – Academic Levels Level changes will be considered on a case-by-case basis Many factors are considered:  Student input  Parent input  Counselor input  Overall course load  Teacher feedback  Availability of alternate courses  Post-secondary plans  Individual strengths & weaknesses
