Title of my Paper
I will type in my introductory paragraph here. This paragraph is indented, double -spaced, and does not have a heading. The
paragraph should be at least 4-5 lines, but no more than half of the page. I will give a short summary of what is contained in my
paper.
Heading for the Second Section of my Paper
This paragraph is also indented. There are no extra lines between the last sentence of the introductory paragraph
and the heading of this section of my paper. The heading above will be the title of what is contained in this section of my paper. This section of my
paper can be more than one paragraph, but should have information related to the paragraph heading. I can usually select the title of my
paragraphs from the assignment rubric. I want to make sure that I thoroughly address the elements listed in the rubric for this section. I will also want to
insert citations to give credit to those thoughts and ideas that are not my own, but help to support my thoughts and ideas. I will enter a reference on
the reference page that corresponds to the citations in this section.
Heading for the Third Section of my Paper
This section is set up in the same manner as the second section of my paper. I will thoroughly address the elements listed in this
section of the rubric.
This is page 2 of your paper or the body of your paper. Note that the words “Running head” and the colon are removed from the header. There are no extra lines between the title of the paper, the paragraphs or headings of the paragraphs.

This is the reference page of your paper. The word “references” is centered on the first line of the paper and is in regular type (not bold like the paragraph headings). The references are in alphabetical order and are in hanging indent, double-spaced, and with no extra lines between the references. The first two references represent books, the third reference is for a journal article, and the fourth reference is for a web page. Note that the titles of the books are italicized, but the title of the journal is italicized as well as the volume number in the third reference.

8. NU Using the APA Manual
This is an example of a book index (found at the back of the book) although it is not the APA manual. To find any subject in the APA manual, go to the index and find the subject of interest. For instance, if you wish to format a book reference; find “reference” in the index, and then find the subheading “books”. You will see the section and page numbers that will give examples of book references.
