1. MEANING OF PERCENT
A ratio of a number to 100 is called a percent. Percent means per hundred, and is represented by the symbol %.
Any ratio with 100 as the second number can be expressed in three ways. You can write the ratios as a fraction, a decimal, and a percent.

18. Commission
Commission is the percent of your amount of sales. Sometimes given to a sales worker who does not get a tip, such as a car salesman.

23. Simple Interest
When you deposit money in a bank, the bank pays you for the use of your money. When you borrow money from the bank, the bank charges you for the use of their money.
Interest is the amount of money paid for the use of money. Interest is calculated at a certain percentage rate called the interest rate.
Principal is the original amount you deposited or borrowed.
Simple interest is interest calculated only on the principal.
Interest = principal x interest rate per year x the time in years.
