HW (see on Skedula) Read chapter 4 of The Kite Runner and develop one high-level question about a SPECIFIC passage in the chapter that helps reveal an important observation or piece of analysis about the novel. Submit that question along with a paragraph of approximately 150-200 words that answers the question. Include direct references to the text along with citation.

On p. 11, Amir and Hassan are seen as doubles, nearly twins. How does this connection between them highlight the differences between their status and social class in Afghan society?

High-level questions: Not a yes or no question or a question that requires a one-word answer. (e.g., Where does The Kite Runner take place? What do kites symbolize?) Should make connections within the text or between the text and another text or between the text and the world at large. Should explore how the text works and why the author makes certain choices in order to have a given effect on the reader.

1)“Lore has it... I would have asked my mother if I had ever met her” (12-13) 2)“Outside the orphanage... Maybe even hating him a little” (14-15). 3)“We were upstairs... Ever falls into their hands” (16-17). 4)“In school, we used to play... Either play or watch soccer” (19-20). 5)“At one point... The mean streak thing” (21- 23)

Develop a question that is specific to your passage and will inspire the class to explore Amir’s relationship with his father and/or Amir or Baba’s character development.
