3 Outlet  Outlet is a community group that supports, educates and advocates LGBTQ community  L= Lesbian, G= Gay, B= Bisexuals, T= Transgender, Q= Queer  Outlet is youth centered community with staff members providing emotional, physical, and social support.

5 Terminologies Focus on -Isms and derogatory terminologies - Isms are belief or opinions that leads into discrimination, which includes derogatory terminologies

6 Questions from “outlet” video  a) What are some of the challenges the sexual minority people go through in the video?  b) How did they deal with the challenges?  c) What other group members are at risk of harassment based on their identity as a member of group (e,g, race, gender, age, religion, etc)? What kind of discrimination/prejudice do they go through?  d) Suppose your best friends from just came out to you, what would you do?

7 4 types of questioning  Low order question: Basic fact, recall question. Example: What is lion’s skin colour?  High order question: Requires reasoning, builds on from the low order question. Example: why do you think lion has that skin colour?  Convergent question: Application question: What other animals use their skin colour as camouflage?  Divergent question: Scenario based question, suppose lion’s skin colour was different, what would happen?

9 How did homosexuality earn its right in Canada?  In 1969, Prime minister Pierre Trudeau passed Bill C-150, decriminalizing gay sex  Pride parade started in 1972 in Toronto after the first protests for gay rights took place in Ottawa and Vancouver  After adopting Charter of Rights in 1982, Canadian supreme court included protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation.  Same sex marriage got legal in 2003
