5 Why Bohai Region? Political and cultural „capital“ of China Ancient „Jizhou“ with many geographical advantages Increasingly integrated area consisting of population of more than 110 mil. – biggest economic hub in North China Several links with the Czech Republic already established – the most recent and symbolic one being the direct flight Beijing-Prague operated by Hainan Airlines Extensive regional cooperation between B-T-H Region and Czech regions

6 Integrated Development of the Region The Layout Plan of Integrated Development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province was approved by the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau on April 30, 2015 as the top-level design for the integration of the region. Beijing to develop into China's political, cultural, technological innovation, and international exchange center. Tianjin to become a center for manufacturing, research and development, a core area for international shipping, and a demonstration site for financial innovation and reform. Hebei province to become a base for logistics, a pilot site for industrial transformation and upgrading, a demonstration area for urbanization and urban-rural development, and an ecological support for the region. The Czech Republic wishes to be part of this process!

7 Why services, food and tourism? Apart from technology (promoted last year), Czech Republic offers a wide variety of services, including high-end (with some operating in China – e.g. PPF/HomeCredit, Moravia IT …) There are many typical food and beverage products from the Czech Republic that deserve more promotion in China Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region can strongly benefit from the direct flight between Beijing and Prague – special promotion of tourism in this area is therefore very meaningful

8 Current Czech presence and activities in Bohai Region Extensive cooperation between CZ and CN at regional level „Main Czech base“ in China: Embassy, CzechTrade, CzechTourism, Czech Cultural Center to be established Base of many Czech companies: PPF China, Škoda China, PBS Velká Bíteš, FERRIT, TEDOM, VAE Controls etc. Historical ties: Czech-Slovak-China Friendship Farm, Cangzhou, Hebei On-going cooperation in healthcare and aviation

9 Main goals General promotion of the Czech Republic, its products, services and „beauty“ Support of the on-going projects of Czech companies in China and joined projects Defining new projects in areas of interest – food, services, tourism Promoting further the existing regional coopertion Contribute to a successful visit of regional and governmental delegations in June 2016

10 Timeframe and main activities May to June 2016 Series of different key acitivites and supporting „cultural“ acitivites 1st half of May – visit of Czech Minister of Agricuture to Beijing with a business delegation (after SIAL) 2nd half of May – visit of a representative of the Czech Ministry of Regional Development End of May, beginning June – CIFTIS fair, Beijing 1st half of June – visit of Czech high-level representative; regional and business delegations

11 Services „CIFTIS“, China International Fair for Trade in Service, Beijing, 28th May to 2nd June – Czech Pavilion financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - project of economic diplomacy In line with Beijing service sector promotion policy … and governmental policy of achieving the „New Normal“ „Czech services at your service“ – workshop and B2B at CIFTIS Tianjin FTZ – financial services, e-commerce, TBC Presentation of Czech Services in Hebei, Tangshan

12 Food „Czech Food Festival“ in Beijing on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Agriculture supported by B2B event (CzechTrade) and e-commerce offline activity – in cooperation with ICBC (second week of May) The launch of e-commerce Czech Shop on ICBC, TBC „Beer Festival“ in Tianjin (second half of May, combined with Tourism Festival) Presentation of Czech Food Products in Hebei, Tangshan (June)

13 Tourism and … „Tourism Festival and Direct Flight Road show“ organized by CzechTourism and Hainan Airlines (TBC) – tourism exchange and direct flight promotion events in Beijing and Tianjin Beijing – part of Food Festival in the first half of May or the Tourism Forum 18th-21st May organized by CNTA Tianjin – combined with the Beer Festival Hebei – combined with Tangshan LLM We hope that many will follow in the footsteps of the Chinsese President Xi Jinping!

14 … Regional cooperation Regional cooperation – e.g. Prague, South- Bohemian Region, South-Moravian Region, Association of Regions, 16+1 „Local Leaders Meeting in Tangshan 2016“ – follow up to the successful Local Leaders Meeting in the Czech Republic in 2014 Czech Republic as a Partner Country with the main guest being a Czech high-level representative

15 Closing event in Beijing June 2016 on the occasion of the LLM in Tangshan Supported by several cultural activities
