1 Do Now Directions: Write “S” for Sparta and “A” for Athens. 1.Most likely to host a festival of plays. 2.Most likely to tell a kid that is hungry, “Good! That will make you tough!” 3.You would have a more luxurious meal if you ate at their house. 4.You would have more rights if you were a woman. 5.Your school “uniform” would consist of a blanket, and nothing else. 6.You would be encouraged to study philosophy, poetry, art, theater, and medicine.

17 Quick Rough Draft Check In: Am I on the right track with my rough draft ? Not quite there… Athens and Sparta both offered education to children. Athens was for boys and Sparta was boys and girls. Yes! I nailed it! Athens and Sparta both offered education to their children. For example, Athens taught their boys philosophy, art, science, poetry and provided a brief military training. The Spartans educated both boys and girls, but their educational focus was more on military matters than the arts or sciences.

23 Day 1: Write a conclusion for the following essay. The topic is “Is smoking worth it?” Thesis: Smoking is not worth the cost, literally, and because smoking can mean death. Main Points of Body Paragraphs: The cost of a pack of cigarettes has the average smoker spending THOUSANDS on smoking It causes mouth cancer, lung cancer, and many other conditions all which lead to death Smoking supports an industry that targets and takes advantage of underage kids. Their commercials are actually for kids who can’t even legally buy cigarettes.
