Lessons Learned Room For Improvement Hire or utilize a staff graphic designer to develop the flier. Involve other departments within the city and university to provide more resources, skills, and distribute the tasks. Provide a General Stormwater Awareness presentation to K-12 schools. Provide a larger ceremony for the winning artists to include a broader audience. Have patience: the time between the winning selections to the time the covers arrive for installation can take up to six months.

Lessons Learned Good ideas to share: An Art Contest makes stormwater management interesting for the general community. Timing – between Sept 1 to December 15 will maximize student participation Judging – 7 is an upper limit to give a good range of experience yet be manageable Reach the Influentials – decision makers learn about stormwater impacts to waterways through judging and post event press releases. Artwork in Steel is lasting and personalized to your town. It is a permanent stormwater message. An Art Contest can be the basis for K-12 general awareness training post event

Lessons Learned What Went Well The artwork has become a symbol of cooperation in the spirit of shared commitment to the river
