Read, understand, and respond to essential content in a variety of informational texts and documents across all academic content areas. 1.2.9.D. 5 Procedures Identify the authors text structure and organization in a given text Identify the main idea, supporting ideas and details Identify a purpose and audience for a response to the article Compose a response that includes a summary of the article and addresses purpose and audience

6 Making the Sheet Start with a square of paper Find the center Fold the corners into the center Ask students to label the folds Students use fold to gather the information Center is used to create a writing response.

7 Why Use Foldable Organizers Teacher created study guides support teacher understanding of content Student created study guides support student understanding of content Students respond well to the kinesthetic experience As students construct the organizers they build connections about the content that stick.
