He had a lot of experience dealing with Native Americans Cherokee- adopted many white customs, owned farms, slaves, had written language, schools Cherokee even wrote own constitution based on the U.S. Government Pressure to move from cotton plantations and then gold discoveries

Jackson’s gave Native Americans two choices: 1. Adopt white culture and become U.S. citizens 2. Move into the western territories

Many whites opposed including Quakers Cherokee Nation v. GA (1831) * “domestic dependent nation” Worcester v. GA (1832) (Cherokee win court case) Jackson: “John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it!”
