3 Protect Antarctic Wildlife
Do not use aircraft, vessels, small boats, or other means of transport in ways that disturb wildlife, either at sea or on land. Do not feed, touch, or photograph animals in ways that cause them to change their behavior. Do not damage plants. Do not use guns or explosives. Keep quiet. Do not bring non-native plants or animals into the Antarctic.

4 Permits for Travelling to Antarctica
One of the ways in which this protects Antarctica is by only allowing visitors to Antarctica by member nations as long as they are given a permit to do so. The granting of a permit is dependent on the visitors agreeing to adhere to certain rules and guidelines.

5 What's so special about Antarctica?
The greatest environmental change seen in Antarctica so far is substantially reduced sea ice cover. This is probably linked to global warming. If the greenhouse problem is not resolved, snow will melt, sea levels will rise and land will be water buried.

6 GLACIER in Antarctica Glaciers began to form on Antarctica about 38 million years ago, and the continent has been covered by ice for about the last 15 million years

7 HOW MANY SPECIES OF ANIMALS LIVE IN ANTARCTICA
Not sure really, but not that many. As you move away from the tropics towards colder climates, there is a general reduction in the number of species, but increase of numbers of individuals of a species. So Antarctica has not so many different type of animal - but loads of each, the tropics have loads of types, but not so many of each. The second most numerous mammal in the world after man is the crab eater seal - a typical Antarctic animal.

8 Why doesn't it rain in Antarctica?
The simple answer is that it's too cold. What would be rain falls as snow instead, but not very much of that falls either, Antarctica is classed as a desert as so little snow falls, it's just that being so cold, it doesn't go anywhere and so builds up instead until it's kilometers thick

9 Temperatures in Antarctica
Temperatures at the South Pole can reach 140 degrees below 0. The average temperature is 40 degrees below 0. One day when it was “only” zero degrees, scientists and support staff went outside to play softball.

10 What do tourists do once they are in Antarctica?
Antarctica Tourist Activities Activity Numbers Small Boat Landing 218,856 Cruise Ship 231,823 Small Boat Cruising 76,335 Station Visit 29,208 Kayaking 23,117

11 How do you plan to dispose of your garbage?
Shredders are used to process glass and small metal waste. Compactors are used to bale plastic. Paper and cardboard are burnt in high temperature marine incinerators. Waste food wrappings are frozen for later disposal in port.

12 Only a few people can visit Antarctica
Tourists may only spend a relatively short time on landings. Because the weather in Antarctica is very cold, and the Antarctica is very easy to broken.

13 Show!! I have a video show the Antarctica.

14 Be Safe Be prepared for severe and changeable weather and ensure that your equipment and clothing meet Antarctic standards. Remember that the Antarctic environment is inhospitable, unpredictable, and potentially dangerous.
