2 Innovation through participation eduGAIN update TF15 - Agenda Brief Timeline (see next slides for further questions) 1 of April 2010 “pre pilot” of the eduGAIN GÉANT3-service will start 1 of October 2010 as pilot service 1 of April 2011 eduGAIN GÉANT3-service in production 1 of April 2013 GÉANT3 Project terminates

3 Innovation through participation eduGAIN update TF15 - Agenda 1 of April 2010 “pre pilot” of the eduGAIN GÉANT3-service will start -> We aim for few (3-5?) participating federations Testing of technical infrastructure (primarily the MDS) Setting up routines and procedures for contact/support/information A draft policy will exist but no formal signature will be required in this phase. “Get a feeling” for questions/issues that will come up that we are not aware of today. Technical platform, no mandatory ( but optional) support for data protection related questions

4 Innovation through participation eduGAIN update TF15 - Agenda 1 of October 2010 as pilot service –> More federations joining (6 or more) The eduGAIN policy will during autumn go to NREN PC for approval New round of use cases will be collected

5 Innovation through participation eduGAIN update TF15 - Agenda 1 of April 2011 eduGAIN GÉANT3-service in production Even more federations joining, we aim for 12 or more! Now we will have an approved policy in place that participants must sign. Start implementing support for the new use cases that where collected in autumn 2010 1 of April 2012, next GÉANT project?

6 Innovation through participation eduGAIN update TF15 - Agenda Some notes on the existing subgroups: The policy-group is lead be Mikael Linden, CSC We are migrating from RedIRIS to PIONIER/PSNC, that will be responsible for operations of the eduGAIN infrastructure (Tomasz Wolniewicz is subtask leader for operations team) The MDS development is lead by Juergen Rauschenbach, DFN The technical metadata profile requirements is lead by Thomas Lenggenhager, SWITCH Any questions?
