NPA Assessments The NPA assessments are based on the BST and all items are mapped onto the BST bands. These assessments can be used to track performance of students (in Years 2,3 and 4 in 2009) over time. The second round of testing is planned for April 2010. Educational Measurement and School Accountability Directorate (EMSAD)

NPA Assessments Feedback will be provided to schools after each round of testing. The first round of analysis has been delayed slightly while all schools complete the tests. Feedback on testing is due to schools by the end of August Educational Measurement and School Accountability Directorate (EMSAD)

SMART data analysis Educational Measurement and School Accountability Directorate (EMSAD)

SMART The decision to use 2008 NAPLAN as baseline data was determined by the Commonwealth at the Measuring Improvement workshop. This meeting was held 29 April 2009, prior to the NAPLAN tests, with representatives from all states and territories. An expert group from the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) outlined the need to use student data from 2008, as this data was gathered prior to any knowledge of the implementation of the National Partnership in Literacy and Numeracy. Educational Measurement and School Accountability Directorate (EMSAD)

Each presenter has the flexibility to navigate through the SMART training module, emphasizing aspects deemed most appropriate for the participating schools. Educational Measurement and School Accountability Directorate (EMSAD)

Timeline for SMART training Sectors will be in contact with schools to advise of dates for training. Some regions may have training after 2009 data is released on September 11. Although SMART training using the school’s own data is mandatory and forms part of the School Self Evaluation module, it can be conducted at various times within term 3 to suit regional arrangements.
