Great Expectations Project Example

Chapter 1 I am choosing to dive this project by chapter. I will first begin going through the required elements for chapter 1, then do the same for chapter 2. You may decide to create your PPT however you see fit. This is just an example.

THE WHAT Here you will tell us about the events (plot) in chapter 1

THE WHY How do the events that happen in the chapter motivate Pip and/or other characters? (basically, how do the plot and character relate?)

THE HOW How do Pip’s choices impact him or other characters in the story?

THE MESSAGE What is the main theme in the chapter? Provide us with an example from the text to prove it (paraphrase or use exact text evidence).

THE CRAFT Provide at least 2 literary devices (NOT metaphor or simile) here with exact text evidence from the novel. What is the author’s purpose/what do the devices do for the reader? ALSO, the information you put on this slide will be placed on a document you will give to each student on presentation day. SEE THE HANDOUT EXAMPLE ON MY WEBSITE.

CHAPTER 2 I would then go through and do the same thing for chapter 2, my second assigned chapter.

QUESTIONS? What questions do you still have about your assigned chapters? Do you have any questions you would like to ask of your peers over your assigned chapters? You could also include a pop quiz to see how well your peers listened to you You could also include a game of some sort to measure this information – BE CREATIVE

REMINDERS FOR YOU! Your group needs to print only ONE copy of the PPT to be submitted to me on your presentation day Each individual student will submit their reflection document (worth 25 points overall) on presentation day. KNOW WHICH DAY YOU PRESENT AND BE PREPARED!
