4 With stage all the way down, place slide with specimen on stage centered over the hole in the stage. 4

5 Using coarse adjustment, slowly raise the stage to its highest position. (Only do this when using the scanning objective) While viewing through the eyepiece, slowly lower stage using coarse adjustment until specimen comes into focus. Make sure specimen is centered in the field. 5

6 Use the revolving nose piece to switch to the low power objective. Use the fine adjustment to resolve the specimen into focus Make sure specimen is centered in the field Use revolving nosepiece to switch to high power. Use fine adjustment to resolve focus. 6

7 When completed viewing specimen Use coarse adjustment to lower stage all the way to its lowest position Use revolving nosepiece to set objective to the scanning objective Remove slide specimen for stage Turn off light 7

8 Unplug and wrap electrical cord around base of microscope Cover with dust cover (if has one) Use two hands (one on arm, one under base) to carry microscope to storage cabinet. 8
