9 Impact of the Crusades on Medieval Life POSITIVENEGATIVENEUTRAL Increased trade between Europe & Middle East. New goods such as spices (sugar), fabrics (cotton), and perfume are introduced to Europe. Caused an increase in exploration of foreign lands. Increase in education (Europeans learned a lot from the Muslims). Increased religious hatred/mistrust between Muslims, Christians and Jews. King’s power increased (ex: more taxes on the people) The power and importance of the Pope was temporarily increased.
