2 Appealing A.) Adjective- having the power to attract or arouse interest B.) Verb- making a serious or formal request for help Who can resist the charm of these appealing little kittens?

3 Compel Verb- to force someone to do something; to make necessary The law compels drivers to carry their license.

4 Impel Verb- to urge to action, usually through moral pressure; to motivate I wonder what impels him to spend all his free time volunteering at the assisted-living home.

5 Impulse Noun- a strong urge or drive Mom had a sudden impulse to rearrange the living- room furniture.

6 Peal A.) Noun- the loud ringing of bells; a loud sound B.) Verb- to ring or sound loudly The bells pealed each hour.

7 Pelt Verb- to strike repeatedly, usually by throwing something When Ron stepped into the room, his friends pelted him with pillows.

8 Propulsion Noun- the force that drives something forward, or forward motion In the 1800s, steam power provided propulsion for most large boats.

9 Pulsate Noun- to expand and contract, or beat, in a constant rhythm; to vibrate The dance floor seemed to pulsate with movement.

10 Repeal Verb- to officially cancel; to take back or withdraw After heavy rains ended the drought, the city council repealed the rule against watering lawns.

11 Repulse Verb to drive back, or to reject rudely to cause feelings of disgust or disapproval His crude manners repulsed his peers.
