3 Aquino and Pilster walked away from the field and began their own battle out front almost immediately. Corey and Magri stayed close together behind, but that behind got further and further as the race progressed. By the ½ flags it was a long way back on the track, but only one place back in the results and both wanted that 3 rd spot. Aquino was pretty solid and continued to hold off advances, but could not extend a gap so anything was possible as we watched the last couple of laps unfold. Having to slice thru the back of the F-IV class did not make things any easier as the HP of the IV’s would sometimes create a challenge as they pass made could easily be lost when hitting the fast sections. 4 The youngster did well though holding of Pilster to the line to capture the win. Magri beating out Corey claimed the third spot and when we return to Infineon we may find another competitive two stroke rider on the grid. Once again we’ll find one fast young man this time on the pole. The youngster did well though holding of Pilster to the line to capture the win. 6 J.D. Grow, Chris Weiss, Gary Stewart and Jeff Gruetter completed Row Two and the OGP gang would be the first wave off ahead of the 750 Production class. Tom Montano the Isle of Mann star and former AMA 250 GP champion would line up on Row 4 with his claim on the known fast guy rule. He is known and he is fast so that makes perfect sense. 38 riders looked to the flag box and launched when it was fired. J.D. Montano was left at the line with a problem and watched the field storm off. He did get the MV Agusta fired and entered the race dead last with a lot of work to do to catch the field and no hope of catching the leaders. Sarros got the best of the rest of the front row to follow Mesa thru the Riverside Banking both on the gas on looking to gap the field behind. Szwarc was in third with Grow, Mike Thompson, Weiss and Lohmeyer all clustered behind. Mesa got a good launch and moved to the front heading to Turn One. 8 Sarros continued his romp around the track and came home with the win. Mesa came home second as Szwarc closed for the last podium spot. Mesa had been sick early in the year and had not gotten much if any track time before Round 1 so we will surely see the veteran back out front as the year progresses.
