DRILL: Please get an iPad. 10 min lesson. 1.Title the next page in your sketchbook: “EMPHASIS” 2.What is emphasis? 3.How do you create emphasis? 4.Which object(s) are you going to emphasize using color? 5.Take the picture to the right. Screen shot it from Edmodo. 6.Open in pen & ink app. 7.Use color to emphasize one object in the still life picture.

12 What is emphasis? Emphasis draws attention to an object. Emphasis creates a focal point and makes object stand out. How do you create emphasis? Using contrast…of color, size, form, shape, etc… Dark vs. light, color vs. black and white, warm vs. cool Which object(s) are you going to emphasize using color?

17 CRITERIA 1.Minimum of 6 objects on the white piece of paper that you look at in front of you. 2.Drawn in pencil. (Except for one object as that is EMPHASIZED in colored pencil.) 3.Objects look realistic. Contour lines, ellipses, and angles. 4.Shading makes objects look 3D. 5.Background and entire picture is complete.

19 Emphasis on Still Life Objective: You will use observational drawing skills in order to draw and shade a still life. DRILL: 1.Set up your still life and get your drawing. 2.Think about which object you might add color to in order to create emphasis.

20 Goals for today: 1.Finish drawing your objects. 2.Add color to emphasize an object. 3.Hang a few on the board at the end of class that show emphasis. Our Objective: You will select color and apply contrast in order to achieve emphasis. You will use contrasting colors in order to create emphasis.

42 Emphasis on Still Life Objective: You will use observational drawing skills in order to draw and shade a still life. DRILL: 1.Set up your still life and get your drawing. (5 min) Consiga sus objetos y su dibujo. 2.Think about which object you might add color to in order to create emphasis. 3.Take a picture on iPad and edit it to Black and white- mono. 4.Entire artwork should be shaded. 5.Still life artworks are due today unless you take it home and use a picture.
