1 Puritans & Pilgrims Discussion 1.What if you were forced to do something that went against your religious beliefs? 2. Choices you might make:  Give up your Religion to get along. Conscience might bother you  Keep your Religion but leave the Church-Separate from it. Probably have to leave family and friends  Work to fix the problems you see in your Church- Purify it. Might anger family and friends

The Pilgrims (also called Separatists because they “separated” from the Church) and the Puritans (so named because they wanted to purify or clean up the Church) were being threatened, bullied and killed. They chose to leave their homes and family rather than change their religion.
