3 Work Organisation The DT group has defined: –Projects: A project is a temporary (usually > 3 months) endeavour to provide a deliverable, a service or scientific results (report). Types: Detector Construction, M&O or R&D. –Services: A service is a competence or a performance which is kept available centrally in the benefice of all experiments, e.g. Bonding Lab or the PS irradiation facility –Small Activities: Is a short job which is not defined as project and which is not a service. –Design Studies: Design studies are activities of limited volume (in manpower and time) to assess the feasibility of an approach. (often prior to a project) The work is done in a matrix structure Resources are allocated in the DT Coordination Meeting

7 Working Hours (1) Introductory –New SR will be presented to council in June –New AC in preparation for next year (temporary regulation for this year) –All extra payments for overtime, standby, aso. need prior approval from Department Head. Issues: Overtime Standby (voluntary staff above 55 years) Free Standby (Expert support or 2 nd level) voluntary basis Shift Work (doesn’t concern us) Changes in in new Rules (not necessarily complete): –Fellows (same level as staff) –Associates cannot participate in official CERN Standby service –Remote interventions will be possible and compensated Current compensation up to CP Eb Note: preliminary proposal (not endorsed)
